Ana Rakovac

Consultant Chemical Pathologist in Tallaght University Hospital, and a RCPI Faculty of Pathology National Specialty Director for Chemical Pathology

Dr. Ana Rakovac is a Consultant Chemical Pathologist in Tallaght University Hospital, and a RCPI Faculty of Pathology National Specialty Director for Chemical Pathology. She joined Irish Doctors for the Environment (IDE) in 2019 and chaired the IDE Sustainable Healthcare Working Group from 2020-2024. She is currently IDE Committee Member. After getting her own lab certified by My Green Lab, she created and chairs the Irish Clinical Green Labs Network since 2024. She has obtained SPARK funding for the My Green Lab national certification pilot for 30 new laboratories in. This project was highly commended in the Greener Models of Healthcare category at the recent HSE/Climate Health Alliance annual conference. Ana established a Green Committee in TUH in 2019, sparked the creation of the national Green Team Network in 2021 , now taken over by the HSE regions and wrote TUH Climate Action Strategic Objectives in 2024. She contributed to the writing of the national HSE Climate Action and Sustainability Strategy and is a member of the Strategy Implementation Groups for Greener Models of Healthcare and Sustainable Procurement. In RCPI, Ana co-chairs the Advisory Group on Climate Action, which is currently working on introducing climate and sustainable healthcare knowledge and skills into all RCPI postgraduate curricula as well as professional competence. Above all, Ana is passionate about making the planet cool again.
