Professor Camilla Carroll
BSc(Anat), MB, MEdSurgEd, MD, FRCSI, FRCS(OTO), FRCS(ORLHNS), FFST(Ed), FEBEORLHNS(Hon).
Professor Carroll is a Consultant ORLHNS Surgeon at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital Dublin. She is an elected member of the RCSI Council (2016 - 2026), an Intercollegiate Surgeon Educator and Assessor with the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Ireland and Great Britain and an Executive Member of the European Examinations Board for ORLHNS.

In 2022, Professor Carroll was appointed as the RCSI Chair for Sustainability in Surgery and as the HSE Co-Chair for the Green Theatre Agenda.
Over the past 2 years, Professor Carroll has engaged with the Surgical Community at NCHD and Consultant level in the domain of surgical sustainability. In February 2024, she launched the RCSI Document “Sustainability Principles and Practice in Surgery” and the NDTP / HSE “eLearning Sustainability in Surgery Module” for NCHDs.

Professor Carroll was appointed as the RCSI Ambassador for Sustainability in 2024 and currently is developing a Sustainability Training Programme for the extended surgical team, which will be piloted in the “Surgical Hub” setting over the coming year.

Professor Carroll’s vision is that sustainability in surgery will become a core competency for the whole surgical team, which will enable the “Powering-down of the O.R” and a reduction in the surgical carbon footprint.
