Debbi Stanistreet

 School of Population Health - RCSI

Debbi Stanistreet is Professor of Public Health and Epidemiology in the School of Population Health at RCSI with a special interest in inequalities and planetary health. Debbi led the first planetary health undergraduate medial curriculum across a national network known as CHIME, (Climate Health in Medical Education and has developed a free 25 hour online course on sustainable healthcare for health professionals. In terms of research, she has worked extensively in inequalities over the last 30 years with much of her work in low income countries, specialising in promoting the community voice. More recently, she has turned her research focus to Ireland and current projects include; leading the evaluation of the national Sláintecare Community Health Programme and investigating the community role in national population based resource allocation, as well as ‘MAP Impact’, a project seeking to reduce the health impact of air pollution on the most vulnerable populations in Ireland. She has been successful in securing funding of almost €5 million in total as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator over the last five years. She is a member of Irish Doctors for the Environment and represents RCSI on the Climate Health Alliance.
